Jesus is God, Jesus is King, Jesus is Lord | Luke 1:26-49

God Fulfills His prophecy given in Isaiah. He chooses to arrive in this world as a babe; trusting and knowing that Mary would obey Him.

1. God will establish His new kingdom through a regular; virgin woman.

God choose to save humanity for its own sin by coming down to the world through Mary. Mary was obedient to the Lord and filled with Joy to be chosen by God—She was joyfully obedient to God. Mary was clean, pure, but still a human, born into sin, imperfect, unholy, yet God chose her as His earthly mother.

“The angel said to her, ‘Do not be afraid, Mary; for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name Him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the most High; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David…” Luke 1:30-32

2. God has complete authority; He’s in control and that’s good news for us.

Mary is confused, perplexed, as she tells the angel, “How can this be for I am a virgin?” She knows what it takes to have a baby so God’s plan doesn’t make sense to her. God does the impossible and bypasses the natural means to have a baby. This shows that God has complete authority over His creation, He’s above this world, He’s our Lord yet chose to come down and have a relationship with humanity.

“The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason the holy Child shall be called the Son of God…For nothing will be impossible with God.” --Luke 1:35 & 37

3. Mary’s response to God is the point of today; She is filled with joy, she becomes a bondslave to God and obeys God with joy.

Mary chooses to serve God. Mary ins’t serving God in anger, fear or complacency. She’s urgent, she’s excited, she’s filled with joy. She shares her joy with her sister and chooses to worship God. Jesus is God, He’s Immanuel (God with us), He has established a relationship with us. Are you listening? Are you worshiping? Are you being like Mary filled with joy?
